Another killer week at Haven Jiu Jitsu!
Last week, we had more than 35 kids in our Tuesday and Thursday class. I love seeing the kids having fun and learning techniques that will benefit them throughout their lives.
I was excited to announce Haven Jiu Jitsu’s partnership with a neighboring small business, Baldwinsville Bottle and Can Return (also in the River mall, just two doors down). 100% of the money received from your can/bottle return can be donated directly to our competition team for registration fees.
Coach Mike began his wrestling program last week. Come check it out on Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm. Mike is the current coach for the Syracuse Wrestling Club and a Navy veteran. He brings with him over a decade of competitive wrestling experience as former section 9 champion. He has also worked as a coach for adult and kids BJJ competitors for both gi and no gi competition at a gym in his hometown. While also training in BJJ, he understands the stark contrast between gi and no gi takedowns and has worked on techniques focused around the offensive and defensive tools the gi offers. Whether you are a competitor or someone in this for self-defense, having a plan from the feet is mandatory.
Our last big announcement last week was Joe B.’s sponsorship by Adopt A Cop BJJ. Haven Jiu Jitsu is thrilled to be partnered with an organization which supports our LEOs.
Monday, 10/25 is the last day to order your Haven gear. I am looking forward to seeing everyone in their high-quality comp/training gear.
Last but certainly not least, we are still giving out $100 CASH for each member (or family) that you bring in that signs up for a year membership. So far, we have happily given out about $1,000 to our members for helping to grow the Haven Community.
Last week (10/18/21 -10/22/21), we worked on:
- All adult classes worked back escape concepts and fundamentals.
- The kids finished up our mount escape unit.
