This past Saturday, August 29th, the Haven Jiu Jitsu competition team headed to Grappling Industries Syracuse for a full day of competition.
We had a great showing from both our kids and adults, finishing the day 1st Overall in the Kids Division and 2nd Overall in the Adults Division.
We’re super proud of everyone who got out there and competed. Our kids had an especially awesome day. Some of them picked up their first-ever competition wins, which was amazing to see. Stepping onto the mat and competing takes a lot of courage, especially for our younger students, and every tournament gives them another chance to build confidence and test out what they’ve been working on in class.
Taking 1st overall as a kids team was a huge accomplishment, but what makes us most proud is seeing how much everyone improves from tournament to tournament. Whether they won a medal, got their first win, or simply went out there and competed hard, every one of them gained valuable experience.
Our adults had a strong showing too, battling through some tough matches and finishing 2nd Overall in the Adult Division.
Competition is always a great way to see what’s working and what we need to keep improving. Everyone who competed this weekend will be back in the gym with more experience and plenty to work on.
A big thank you to all of our coaches, teammates, parents, and families who came out to support the team. Days like this are a team effort, and we couldn’t do it without everyone who helps our competitors prepare and cheers them on during competition day.
Congrats to everyone who competed and represented Haven Jiu Jitsu this weekend. We’re proud of the results, but even more proud of the progress our team keeps making.
