Jiu Jitsu for Real Estate and Military

Between Thanksgiving and our two seminars, we had a busy couple of weeks! We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday with their loved ones. We certainly have a lot to be thankful for!
November 20th was our self defense seminar for local real estate agents. Chris Green from C Green Home Inspection Group LLC sponsored the event, and it was a great success.
November 27th was the Brandon Ashby Ronin Foundation fundraiser seminar. Haven Jiu Jitsu is partnered with the Ronin Foundation, a non-profit organization that is helping active-duty military members combat suicide, depression, alcoholism, PTSD and other mental health concerns by sponsoring their training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Brandon, a BJJ black belt, spent an hour instructing our members, who donated to the cause. Together, we were able to raise over $700 for this amazing foundation.
We have covered a lot of material since our last blog post. Our classes have been working:
- Half guard to the underhook series
- Arm drag to the back
- Guillotines from closed guard
This week, we will continue the underhook series from half guard. We will also chain the guillotine to the cow catcher.
Upcoming:
December 5th 10am – 11am: Rob White Judo seminar (there will be no open mat). To show my appreciation for taking comp prep seriously, this will be a free seminar for all Haven members.
December 5th 11am – 12am: Our last comp class before the tournament
December 11th: Grappling Industries: Syracuse Tournament at the Pine Grove Health Country Club in Camillus (link to event).
Sadly, due to time constraints and prior commitments, we will not be having a holiday party at Haven this year. Plan on a big one next year!
